The course is undulating.
The ascent does not seem too much but with low afternoon sun, potential high temperatures, varying terrain (asphalt, gravel, grass and a touch of sand) your legs will certainly know about it!
You start at a common start and finish flag in Jarman Oval next to the event car park. A gentle climb kicks in at around 800 metres after starting, You run up Ochiltree Rd and onto the left side verges of Defence Road.
Mild undulations keep you busy before turning left onto Range Area Walk.
After several hundred metres you return to Defence Rd for an out and back. 5km runners do not partake in the out and back and pick up Walter Pisterman Walk (look for the split point ahead sign) and eventually Coles Track which brings everyone home.
A few sharp hills present themselves to the 10km and 21.1km runners with the longest ascent at 30 metres. Be sure to grab a beautiful view across the bay!
On the return to Jarman Oval (big field with start and finish) you will be presented with another ‘split point ahead’ sign. 21.1km runners will run an additional 550m’s on grass and then rejoin the loop for their 2nd lap.
